What is the Summer Blogger Promo Tour (SBPT)?
The Summer Blogger Promo Tour is a summer tour that Jessica, Amber, and Emily over at The Book Bratz have put together that helps a bunch of bloggers both new and old link up with each other and collab on fun posts throughout the summer!I will be posting a collaborative post with my partner Kitty @ Jellyfable every Sunday during July and August!
Meet my partner:
Kitty's Bio:
Kitty has been a lover of literature since she was a kid. When she rekindled this love in college thanks to booktubers and book bloggers, she decided to join those online who shared their reading with others. She is currently studying marketing and graphic design with the goal of working in publicity with publishing houses and authors. Her favorite way to waste time is playing Overwatch or D&D (or watching streams of those who do.) She swears by lattes, cookie dough ice cream (regardless of her gluten allergy), cute Pinterest boards, jellyfish, and the color pink.

Last Book Read: Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemoreWild Beauty is a magical realism story that follows the Nomeolvides women, a family who tend the gardens of La Pradera while trying to avoid their tragic legacy. The five cousins of the Nomeolvides family all discover they are in love with the same girl and are desperate to keep the family curse from making her disappear, just like everyone else the women of their family have loved. Every book I have read by Anna-Marie McLemore has been a work of lyrical genius. The setting and story are rich, beautiful and haunting. At it’s core, this is a story about born families and found families and a story about how to repair the tragedies of the past. It’s hard to compare this book to anything else because it is completely and wholly unique, but I loved every moment of it and highly recommend it.
Current Read: All Out: The No-Longer-Secret Stories of Queer Teens Throughout the Ages edited by Saundra Mitchell
This book is a short story collection of historical fiction stories about queer teens written by queer authors. I was so excited for it, not only because the concept is amazing, but also because it includes authors I really love such as Anna-Marie McLemore, Shuan David Hutchinson, and Mackenzi Lee. It also has authors I’ve wanted to read but haven’t picked up books from yet like Robin Talley, Malinda Lo, and Tess Sharpe. I’ve read three of the stories so far and, although every short story collection has some stories I prefer more than others, overall I think I am going to love this book.
Next Up on the TBR: City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab
I was lucky enough to get an arc of this book at BookCon and I cannot wait to read it. Victoria Schwab is one of my top three favorite authors of all time and this story sounds like it will fit her style perfectly. City of Ghosts is a middle grade novel about a girl named Cassidy Blake who nearly drowns and ends up with the ability to see ghosts. Her family goes to Edinburgh, Scotland to film a TV show about the paranormal and Cassidy meets someone else who shares her abilities. As someone who follows Victoria Schwab on lots of social media platforms, I’m well aware of her absolute love for Edinburgh so I cannot wait to see how she writes the city into this story.
Favorite TV Show: Leverage
I am obsessed with heist stories and Leverage is a classic when it comes to heists. I started watching Leverage with my family when I was in my young teens and I have re-watched every season so many times since. The story follows five characters who live a life of crime as high tech “robin hoods.” They steal from rich corporations or businessmen to give money (or vengeance) back to their victims. It has my favorite cast of characters I’ve ever seen in a TV show and every episode is so unique. If you love morally ambiguous heroes or hate capitalism, this is the show for you.
Currently Watching TV: The Librarians
I had been watching less TV while Overwatch League was in-season (for those not familiar, OWL is a league for competitive eSports and it’s surprisingly fun to watch.) As soon as the season ended though, I started watching The Librarians. The series is a reboot of the 2004-2008 The Librarian films about a team of “librarians” who have to recover dangerous artifacts and stop magical villains. It’s ridiculously cheesy and super cliche, but in all the best ways. I love this show because of it’s ensemble casts and because it shares both an actor and producer with my favorite show, Leverage.
Yay we love this!! Looking forward to an awesome summer filled with great posts!
