TV Talk is a series of posts here all about TV shows whether they are what we are watching, want to watch, and the shows that got away (go figure from the name). If you are a TV fanatic like Hannah and I are then you love fall pilot season. Your favorite shows are back, but you also might find a new favorite show. Sometimes it can be hit or miss, but that can be the fun of it.
NEW SHOWS THAT WE ARE INTERESTED IN
D: This show sounds really intriguing. I love the mystery of the tattoos. The part of it that is really cool is that a name is tattooed on her of an FBI agent. Jamie Alexander was kickass in the Thor movies so I can't wait to see her in this.
H: I love White Collar so another fraud drama might be cool, especially with a female character in the lead. Just wondering how far they can take it!
D: This show definitely feels like another amazing Shona Rhimes show. The plot of a someone who takes down con artists for a living getting conned is great. Like Hannah, I am just wondering how much of a show we can get from that.
H: Not my usual show but it has the New Girl appeal. I like upbeat comedies! Unfortunately, I can see it being cancelled.
D: I'm not really one for comedies and I will probably not be tuning in for this one.
Lookinglass (Previously called 'Frankenstein Code' - probably a better title)
H: Finally, something non contemporary on the list. Anyone else think that this Fall looks decidedly un-magicky and un-science-fictiony? Frankenstein has been redone a number of times, in different ways, and watching the trailer, I think this looks like a good twist on the classic. Dark and dramatic, and still questioning the same things that the book did - should we mess around with life and death? I just hope it doesn't take itself too seriously.
D: This is one of the shows that I am on the fence with. It sounds pretty good and the promo for it looks good. I just haven't seen Fox do well with SciFi recently. This one doesn't seem like it will be sticking around very long.
HEROES FREAKING REBORN
H: Huge Heroes fan right here (yes, I even liked Season 4, even though it went off the deep end) and when I heard they were bringing it back for a limited run, I was so excited! I was kind of apprehensive too but now I know Zachary Levi is at the helm (Chuck being one of the greatest shows of all time), I can relax a little. Save the Cheerleader, save the world, right?
D: I LOVED HEROES! I don't really know Zachary Levi, but I am so excited to see some of my favorite characters back. This show got canceled before its time and I am so excited to see it being brought back.
D: I keep seeing ads for this show and I'm really excited for it. I like that we won't know who to trust and it has a young fresh cast.
H: I'm not usually a horror kind of girl, but this looks so good. Sorority horror flick meets Mean Girls, I just know it's going to be a tense and bloody ride.
D: As an American Horror Story fan, this show looks great. I love a good slasher movie and I think American Horror Story could have a much wider appeal as Scream Queens. Plus the assemble cast is incredible.
H: I love superhero stuff. I don't even care that this looks cheesy, I'll give it a go. Though it'll never replace Smallville.
D: I am down for any superhero show and DC is knocking them out of the park so far. Supergirl, tone wise, doesn't look amazing. But it might be a fun show. I don't know how I feel about the actress they casted, but it might turn out great.
D: I hadn't heard of this show until now and I am ready for it. I can't wait to see Ed Westwick as a character other than Chuck. I love a good mystery. This looks like a crime show that I would love.
Blood & Oil
H: I hadn't seen the trailer until we started writing this post and now I'm so excited to watch this show. It looks like it'll be really cut throat and to be honest, I haven't seen anything like this before.
D: This show is replacing Revenge on the network and it looks great. I'm really excited that both Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick are back to TV. The plot for this show seems so unique and different. I am excited for the drama of new money.
H: I never saw the Limitless movie but I wanted too. Even so, I'm not sure how I feel about this show. I love the concept of it and the world in which the story takes place. However, the whole FBI utilizing the super genius guy for their benefit has been so done. I'll give it a try though.
D: I really liked the Limitless movie. I thought it was really cool. I don't know how good this show is going to be. It seems pretty unoriginal in its plot and the main actor isn't amazing, but I'm interested in it.
H: I'm not generally a zombie person (and there are hints at this in the promos etc) but I do trust Julie Plec when it comes to shows. The Originals and TVD are great in so many ways. It'll be interesting to see how this develops as a story. I found the promo pretty tense and I'm intrigued to see how the no contact thing between characters affects their relationships.
D: This is another Julie Plec show on the CW. It looks really good and has several TVD and The Originals alums in the cast. There is the possibility for zombies, which always intrigues me. I like the idea of this being transmitted via touch. The promo looks really good so this is a definite for me.
D: I have never seen the movie that this show is based off of, but I am really interested in it. It kind of reminds me of Fringe in an odd way and it is on the same network. I might have to see the movie.
The Bastard Executioner
H: I watched two promos for this but it doesn't look like something I'll ever watch. It just doesn't appeal to me. Sorry!
D: I have zero clue what this show is actually about, but it looks great in the promos. Every time my Mom sees one of these promos she says that she wants to watch it. It looks likes FX's take on a Game of Thrones genre show. I am a huge fan of The Strain so FX can definitely do genre.
Of Kings & Prophets
H: The Bible is rich with gritty material for adaptation and movies that have approached similar topics have always had wide commercial appeal, but I don't know if I see this show having any longevity. If they handle it right, it could have potential.
D:Visually this show does not look very good, but it could have some promise. I think it is interesting to show the barbary of the context of the bible as well. I'm interested in this one, but not necessarily on this network. A violent biblical show could have done well on a premium.
What about you guys? Are you excited about any of these shows, or have we missed one that you think we should give a chance?
