This is both a writing update and a blog update. I haven't been blogging as much as I would like to, which really bugs me! I just haven't been in the mood, but I am turning this month around.
This might be a really short writing update, but it is probably one of the most exciting ones for a while.
I FINISHED A BOOK!!! WHAT?!?
Well, technically, I reached 50K on my first draft of my novel In His Darkness, which is an NA retelling of the Hades/Persephone Myth. This is just a first draft and there is a lot that I have to work on and revise before I can even think about what I want to do with it or even sending it to beta readers.
I have never gotten this far in a story ever. I usually reach 10k and just stop. The shiny new idea then takes over and I start something new. Writing has always been what I considered a pipe dream for myself because I never thought I could even finish anything. But I did it! I feel really proud of myself and it is something that I have always wanted to do.
I wanted to give up so many times and yeah it is probably really shitty, but I FINISHED IT! It is a step in the right direction for me and I can't wait to move forward and work on all of my other WIPs.
There is still a few weeks left of CampNaNoWriMo and I want to kick writing butt. Then in August, I want to take a look at my rough draft and try to make it better. I have a great group of writing friends who will help me and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
How is your writing going? Are you participating in Camp? Have you hit the 50k mark on any projects? I want to celebrate all of your successes with you, however small!
