One Chance Night is a fantastic new adult debut that was a breath of fresh air. It was so genuine and heartfelt. I think anyone who doesn't want to read new adult because of the stigma it has received as being "YA plus sex" or even just being college romances should read One Chance Night. This is a one-sitting read that you will be sure to fall in love with.
I loved that this book had a main character who was dealing with a lot of every day problems. Chelsea's story is one that many could relate to, which was really great to read. There are so many times when new adult stories can be a little be unbelievable or unrealistic.
It is crazy that the bulk of this book takes place in one day. It was wonderfully executed and had such a great pacing that it never felt too rushed or too slow. I love that there was an epilogue as well to set up the next book in this series, which I am assuming will make this a companion series.
For me one of the shining spots in this book was Stevie. Stevie was an incredible character who just felt so normal and natural. I loved her enthusiasm and how caring she was, but also how much common sense she had. I feel like too many times it is the reader who is telling the main character, "what are you doing when you barely know this guy?" But this time we actually had a character who could reflect the reader. Chelsea was in a dark place mentally at the start of the book so it was fantastic to have a character like Stevie to be introduced. I also really enjoyed Myra and Lori. Eliza Boyd added a diverse couple into the mix that felt so natural to the story. I would love to see more of their future in later books. I really liked Brett, but I liked more of what I saw of him at the end of the book than the beginning. Maybe it was the mindset that Chelsea was in or just how he was acting but I just didn't with him right away.
I can't wait to find out more about Ian and Bethany's stories in Two Pink Lines. Eliza Boyd is definitely an author you should be on the look out for.
Thank you for introducing me to country music. It is really popular where I live. I am loving this playlist of the songs that were included in One Chance Night.
