TV Talk is a series of posts here where I will talk about the TV Shows I am watching, want to watch, and the shows that got away ( go figure from the name).
OUTLANDER RETURNED LAST NIGHT!!!As you can tell I was very excited. This show went on hiatus right in the middle of the season after a huge cliff hanger and I have been dying since it went off for the midseason finale. Funny side note, my cable has been going out for the past week; most of the channels are pixelated. But for some miracle reason the only channel working right was Starz playing Outlander. It was getting weird during the show and my Mom and I just prayed it would survive until the end of the episode.
Previously On Outlander:
Last we left off Claire had been captured by Black Jack Randall after being caught at Craigh Na Dun. Randall was about to rape when our knight in shining armor Jamie came in through the window!
Opened with a Jamie monologue, which was really great and set the stage for this episode. I love with a television show is that this book may have been narrated by Claire but with the show you can follow Jamie as well.
This episode for the most part followed Jamie and his emotional journey in it. We saw him hear that she was captured and his journey to Ft. William. We saw him in the inner sanctum of Castle Leoch with Collum and Dougal and the girl that had a crush on him ask about him having a wife.
We saw him put on the kilt, which was interesting to see. Sam Heughan had said that he had to put it on lying on the floor which was true based on the scene. Definitely looked like a lot of work, but was quite enjoyable to watch!
I loved seeing a scene straight from the book. There were some scenes that I wasn't sure if they were in the book but they just fit in so well anyway. There was lots of foreshadowing from the book in the Black Jack scenes and in Jamie's monologue.
I loved seeing them fight throughout this episode. You forget when you read it and watch it that they don't fall in love until after they are married. Their newlywed period is spent with a lot of head butting, but it was also the best part to read/watch because their fighting was amazing. At times it was comical because of them being from different times and butting heads over the roles of a husband and wife. There were a few times tin the episode that we saw how different they are because of time. The funniest was when Jamie asked what fucking and sadist meant. It was one of the lightest moments of the episode. I am very excited to see their relationship grow in the coming episodes.
This first episode back put the bar high for the second half of the first season. If you read the book then you know that shit hits the fan in the later chapters. I am both excited but anxious to see this second half of this season because it gets really brutal and Starz has shown that they aren't afraid to go there.
