Best Books Read So Far of 2013
This is in no particular! Here are just 10 of my favorites it is so hard to choose! A lot of these books are just hyped books that I never got around to before and questioned myself WHY NOT? after I read them. Also some 2013 releases!
Check out my 2013 Reviews HERE!
One of my favorite authors this year and one of my favorite new genres. I am in love with new adult this year and Wait ForYou is the must read if you are a newbie to the genre. You will cry just be prepared.
Is an amazing story of survival in the midst of an outbreak of a strange new virus that kills most people on a quarntined island. The main character's strength is amazing.
Probably the weirdest book I have ever read but I loved every moment of it! Alyssa the narrator is the descendant of Alice from Alice in Wonderland. It was pure crazyness but you just have to read it! I was never really into Alice in Wonderland but it definitely made me more into the story.
4. Shattered Me by Tahereh Mafi
This such a hyped book and let me say it was worth all of the hype it received. The reason for this definitely Tahereh's writing style. It is just beautiful and her characters are so dynamic. She really leaves you dying for more. After reading Unravel me (Shatter Me #2) I found such a love for Warner!
Yet another book that is worth the hype. The world building in this one is what takes the cake. It is a fabulously done dual point of view. I loved Perry and I think the story just works so welll. It is a weird mix of science fiction dystopia and nomadic tribes. Somehow it all worked so well.
6. Ink by Amanda Sun
Actually comes out today! So you should go get it haha! It also has a free ebook prequel called Shadows. But this book is unlike anything else I have ever read before. It is set in Japan and features Japanese mythology as well as Japanese culture. It was so mysterious and I was obsessed with it. And look at that beautiful cover!
Is the epic conclusion to the Unearthly series! I was so sad to see this series end. I loved it so much and it has one of the best and well done love triangles. I didn't know who she was going to choose until the last few pages. I think what made the ending great but bittersweet is that it was still very open to interpretation. You know what happens but the characters have longer than human lives so you never know what will happen next.
If you love The Vampire Academy then the Bloodlines series is just the next step for you! Bloodlines follows Sydney, Jill, and Adrian and continues on in the same spirit as VA. It both fun and mysterious as well the obvious romance. Plus it has ADRIAN. Therefore it is a must read.
Is a book that reminded me a lot of The Vampire Academy mainly for the storyline and characters. But I loved that it was about Greek Mythology who would ever thing about what happens to the childrem of Demi-gods! This series keeps getting better! I can't wait for book 5! Obviously JLA is amazing and the only author to make it twice of the list (J.Lynn = JLA)
2013 is the year for contemporary which you probably can't tell from this list but I am really enjoying them. I loved Confession because it had a really unique formatting and great characters. I think for the first time I found a great young adult contemporary that I was able to relate to. It felt more like a real High School experience. I need to read more YA Contemp!
So have you read any of these? What did you think? Do you have any recommendations for me based on this list?
