Review ~ The Dirt by Lori Culwell
Welcome to my stop on The Dirt tour which is a contemporary YA along the lines of Pretty Little Liars and The Clique! I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope you decide to check it out!
Lucy Whitley cannot wait to get out of Palm Desert. It’s not a place for a frizzy-haired science nerd, particularly when her fashion-obsessed older sister Sloane is the head of a clique of pretty girls who rule the school—and practically the whole town.Fortunately, life is about to change forever. Lucy’s dad is getting re-married, and then she can transfer to a boarding school in Connecticut, escaping all the mean girls and the endless whispers about the Whitley family scandal. Everything is going to be perfect—as long as the wedding goes smoothly.

When you first begin the book it is in a series of emails which I thought was a really great idea! I was definitely glad that the whole book wasn't in emails though it would have been very hard to keep all the characters straight! Lucy in the main character is probably for me one of the most relate able characters I have read about in awhile she is smart, funny, but she can be mean too which I still liked. Hey aren't most teen girls a little nasty, just saying!
Especially for the situation concerning her family which was extremely dramatic to say the least. Her mother an ex model ran away years ago with one daughter Megan and no one has heard from her since. Until the day the Father is about to remarry and Megan shows up at the church to stop the wedding. The rest of the story is how the family deals with this and it was funny and a light read. I enjoyed the high society humor especially the game the older sister and her friends played of knowing who had plastic surgery and what doctor performed it!
This is a fantastic new YA that has wonderfully developed realistic characters that you will with no doubt fall in love with! I loved it and you will too!
