That’s what instinct told me.
But in order to save the secrets of my people
and to protect my brother
I have to become the enemy.

For me The Violet Fox was the perfect combination of two genres! It had both aspects of a fantasy yet at the same time qualities that could classify it as a dystopian as well. Since I am a fan of both genres I fell in love. The society is divided between the Marlenians and the Freetors. The freetors live underground in caves and have a hard time finding food so they steal from their overlords who have them enslaved, the Marlenians. This world has a much more middle ages time setting though and the Freetors elders weild magic that the Marlenians have now stolen. It is the job of Kiera to get into the castle and steal it back quite a large task for a girl who only steals food from the markets.
The world building in this novel was phenomenal and very believable. I was hooked right away and though at times there things in the story that were slightly confusing for the reader I still wanted to continue reading. Kiera was a great main character who was easy to connect with when I had nothing in common with her. Overall I thought this story was extremely well done and a great read!
