Review~ Sirenz by Charlotte Bennardo & Natalie Zaman
I read this book awhile ago and am just finally getting around to it!
Book Description~Bickering frenemies Meg and Shar are doing some serious damage at a midnight sample sale when the fashionistas find themselves arguing over a pair of shoes-with fatal consequences. One innocent bystander later, the girls are suddenly at the mercy of Hades, Lord of the Underworld himself. To make them atone for what they've done, Hades forces the teens to become special-assignment Sirens, luring to the Underworld an individual whose unholy contract is up.
Finding that delicate balance between their fashion addiction and their new part-time job in the eternal hellfire biz turns out to be harder than Meg and Shar expected, especially when an entire pantheon of Greek deities decides to get involved. Then there's the matter of the fine print in their own contracts...
My Thoughts and Opinions~
So yet another book that features some elements of Greek Mythology. I have just realized how many books I have read recently that do have Greek Mythology and I am still not bored yet! Sirenz is a more humorous spin on it.
I thought this book was going to be superficial and annoying but I was completely surprised by it. When I read bickering frenemies it right away turned me off but as I read the book I found my self enjoying their drama. Seeing Meg and Shar's friendship grow was so nice to read about. I personally loved when these two girls had opportunities to save themselves but wouldn't risk it hurting the other.
I think Sirenz portrayed a great side to Greek Gods. They are immortal and extremely bored so they play games with humans. During the time I was reading this book I felt myself wanting to say a few choice curse words about Hades. Every step they got closer someone pushed them back which highly frustrated me. If I had to say one thing I didn't like about this book it would be that.
Overall this is a fun and exciting novel about two teen girls who despite their differences have to work together to fight and against Greek Gods.
The sequel is Sirenz back in Fashion which I have to say I am not a fan of the animated cover Sirenz was much prettier!
Have you read this book yet, what did you think? Also are you a fan of this Greek Mythology craze? I know I am!
